LEXINGTON, Ky. On Monday the University of Kentucky announced that defensive lineman Nic Smith, a 20-year-old redshirt freshman, was found dead in a residence hall after a 10:03 a.m. call to campus police, the school said, and the football program posted the notice on its official website. The university said campus police are working with the Lexington-Fayette County coroner and that an initial investigation did not indicate foul play; coach Will Stein issued a statement offering condolences, and the athletic department said it will provide support to teammates and the campus community this week while the coroner's review continues.
