Georgia rallies past Mississippi State, eyes CWS berth

ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia rallied from a 7-0 early deficit to defeat Mississippi State 13-12 on Saturday at Foley Field, taking Game 1 of the NCAA Super Regional. Michael O'Shaughnessy hit two home runs and Georgia scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to seize the lead and win. The comeback ended longstanding records of losses when trailing by seven runs and improved Georgia to 5-0 versus Mississippi State in 2026; Justin Byrd closed the ninth with a strikeout to end the game. First pitch for Game 2 is scheduled at noon on Sunday, with a College World Series berth on the line.
