New York center races comeback after finger surgery

New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson is attempting to return from emergency surgery on a broken right pinky finger in time for Game 1 of the 2026 NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday, June 3. Robinson sustained the injury in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals sweep of the Cleveland Cavaliers but finished the game with eight points and 10 rebounds. ESPN reported he has already undergone surgery and plans to play with a protective brace, though coach Mike Brown said on May 31 that medical staff clearance is still required and his status remains uncertain.
