Tap title to read story
Federal investigators have begun interviewing current and former election officials in Wisconsin, including several in Milwaukee, as part of a broader probe into the 2020 U.S. presidential election, according to reporting published May 29, 2026, by The Washington Post, Votebeat, and Wisconsin Watch. The inquiry is reportedly relying on conspiracy theories about election fraud that have been repeatedly debunked. Similar federal activity has previously targeted ballots and records in Fulton County, Georgia; Wayne County, Michigan; and Maricopa County, Arizona. Milwaukee County officials are now preparing for a possible federal effort to seize the city’s 2020 ballots, though no subpoenas have yet been issued in Wisconsin.
