U.S.-based artificial intelligence company Anthropic has reached a valuation of $965 billion after closing a new $65 billion funding round, the firm announced in its latest financing update. The round was led by major venture investors including Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks and Sequoia Capital, and featured a $5 billion commitment from Amazon. As Anthropic emphasizes enterprise-grade AI offerings, it is simultaneously suing the U.S. Department of Defense over a designation labeling the company a “supply chain risk.” Anthropic alleges unconstitutional retaliation tied to its refusal to grant unrestricted military access to its proprietary AI models, while expanding advanced cybersecurity and coding-focused systems.
