Montgomery, Ala. Southern Miss defeated Louisiana 11-7 in the Sun Belt Conference Championship Game at DABOS Park on Sunday after earlier that morning beating Troy 6-2 in an elimination semifinal; the Golden Eagles secured their third Sun Belt title in four years and improved their record to 44-15. Sunday night the NCAA announced Southern Miss as a host for an NCAA Regional in Hattiesburg, marking the program’s fifth hosted regional and second straight year at Pete Taylor Park; the team will learn its regional seeding and opponents during Monday’s NCAA selection show and plans its postseason rotation accordingly.
