Alabama sweeps LSU, advances to WCWS this weekend

Tuscaloosa, Ala. Alabama swept No. 16 LSU in the NCAA Super Regional this weekend, defeating the Tigers 7-0 in Game 1 on Friday and 4-1 in Game 2 on Saturday at Rhoads Stadium. The Crimson Tide, the No. 1 overall seed, closed the series to secure a berth in the Women’s College World Series. After the 4-1 Saturday victory that ended LSU’s season, Alabama’s pitching was credited with series control: Jocelyn Briski totaled 16 strikeouts in the series and the staff amassed 23 strikeouts across both games. Game two featured extended lightning delays and a nearly 6.5-hour completion; Alabama will advance to the WCWS in the coming weeks.
