SAN DIEGO — Andy Pages dug in against Padres closer Mason Miller and refused to yield, fouling off three triple‑digit fastballs and three 87 mph sliders before driving Miller’s ninth pitch, a 101.5 mph fastball, to right for the tiebreaking run in the ninth inning. The Dodgers held on to win 5-4, and Miller (1-1) was charged with the loss. Freddie Freeman called it "one of the greatest at-bats I’ve ever seen in person." The rally began after Max Muncy successfully challenged a called third strike and Pages drew a one-out walk. Pinch-runner Alex Call nearly was picked off when Miller’s throw to first skipped past Ty France, resulting in the reliever’s first MLB error and extending the inning. Pages worked out of an 0-2 count and lifted a 275-foot fly to right; Fernando Tatis Jr.’s throw was cut off by Sung‑mun Song, allowing Call to score. The RBI was Pages’ 42nd of the season. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts praised Pages’ will in the matchup, and Miller called it a "good, long at-bat." The loss snapped Miller’s personal streaks; he had not lost a decision since May 17, 2025, and had converted 15 saves this season while earning NL reliever of the month honors for March/April.
