Montreal: Sabres rout Canadiens to force decider

In Montreal on Saturday night, the Buffalo Sabres defeated the Montreal Canadiens 8-3 to level their Eastern Conference semifinal series at three games apiece and force a decisive Game 7. Buffalo rallied from a 3-1 deficit midway through the first period after replacing starting goaltender Alex Lyon with Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, who made 18 saves in relief. The Sabres’ power play proved decisive, converting four of six opportunities. Rasmus Dahlin set a team playoff record with five points, while Jack Quinn scored twice. The winner of Monday night’s Game 7 in Buffalo will advance to face Carolina for the conference title.
