Israel alleges Pakistan-based AI bots target Americans

In a recent CBS 60 Minutes interview aired this week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that Pakistan is serving as a key hub for large-scale, AI-driven bot farms seeking to influence U.S. public opinion about Israel. Netanyahu said Israeli intelligence, in cooperation with private cybersecurity firms, traced coordinated social media posts and text campaigns—appearing to originate from U.S. locations such as Texas and the Midwest—to servers and physical sites in Pakistan. He described the effort as an additional “battlefield,” asserting that AI-generated personas are being used to mimic Americans, amplify divisive narratives, and erode support for Israel, particularly among younger demographics.
