Los Angeles. Hannah Harper was crowned the winner of season 24 of American Idol during the televised finale on Monday after Keyla Richardson was eliminated, leaving Harper and Jordan McCullough as the final two. McCullough, 27, is a worship director from Tennessee; Harper, 26, is a stay-at-home mom from Missouri. Judges Carrie Underwood, Lionel Ritchie and Luke Bryan watched the season and said they were proud to see the three reach the finale. With tears streaming and confetti falling, Harper sang one final time after she won, joined on stage by fellow contestants and the judges. In the week before the finale she had said the show gave contestants a platform to build audiences and that all would have careers after leaving American Idol.
