Washington: U.S. forces struck and disabled Iranian-flagged oil tankers this week, the U.S. Central Command said Wednesday and later in the week. On Wednesday at 9 a.m. Eastern, CENTCOM said a U.S. Navy F/A-18 from USS Abraham Lincoln disabled the rudder of the tanker Hasna after the crew failed to comply with repeated warnings. The command said the Hasna is no longer transiting to Iran and that the blockade against ships entering or departing Iranian ports remains in full effect; on Friday CENTCOM reported additional tankers were disabled after attempting to breach the blockade. President Donald Trump announced halting a Pentagon escort mission the day before, and Iranian media reported exchanges of fire in the Strait of Hormuz.
