New York. Union Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh delivered India’s national statement at the International Migration Review Forum on Thursday, May 8, and publicly urged an inclusive, humane framework to address irregular migration and trafficking; he also presented India’s digital migration platform and arrived in New York earlier in the week to lead the delegation. This week Singh met United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres on the margins of the forum and headlined a side event on the e-Migrate system, stressing safe, orderly, and regular migration; his remarks cited India’s diaspora of over 34 million and signaled a push for strengthened anti-trafficking laws and international cooperation in the immediate post-forum period.
