Charleston, West Virginia — State early voting is underway for the 2026 primary; Secretary of State Kris Warner reported 33,138 in-person ballots cast across 55 counties from April 29 through May 6, and noted early participation is modest compared with prior midterm early-voting rates. In Monterey County, ballot mailings began April 23 and were completed by May 4. Dallas organizers led by Col. Allen West sought to conduct hand counts for a March primary but reduced those plans after volunteer shortages, prompting local officials to adjust procedures; county election offices continue offering in-person early voting, tracking tools, and poll-worker recruitment ahead of the June 2 statewide direct primary.
