Raley had entered the game with just two hits in 32 recent plate appearances and 13 strikeouts; after a walk and a flyout he swung at a 1-1 curveball and drove it into the right-field seats. Ritchie, who had walked four of his last five hitters, exited to an ovation from family and friends.
