MIAMI: Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli claimed pole in Saturday qualifying with a fastest lap of 1 minute 27.798 seconds and converted that advantage into victory in Sunday's Miami Grand Prix after officials moved the start time earlier because of forecast heavy rain. Antonelli resisted a late challenge from Max Verstappen in qualifying and led the race from the front.
The result extended Antonelli's lead in the drivers' championship this week and made him the first driver to secure his first three wins from his first three poles, following earlier victories in China and Japan. Lando Norris finished second and Oscar Piastri third; race organisers advanced the start by three hours to noon CT, prompting teams to adapt strategy and pit sequencing.
