ST. PAUL, Minn. — Quinn Hughes scored twice and the Minnesota Wild defeated the Dallas Stars 5-2 in Game 6 on Thursday night, clinching the first playoff series victory for the Wild since 2015. Matt Boldy added two empty-net goals and Vladimir Tarasenko also scored during the win. The victory advances Minnesota to face the Presidents Trophy-winning Colorado Avalanche in the second round; Colorado had not played since sweeping Los Angeles on Sunday. Jesper Wallstedt made 22 saves in Game 6, Dallas goals came from Wyatt Johnston and Mavrik Bourque, and Minnesota outscored Dallas 17-5 at even strength in the series.
