ANAHEIM, Calif. — The Anaheim Ducks defeated the Edmonton Oilers 5-2 in Game 6 on Thursday to win the first-round series in six games, their first playoff series victory since 2017. A three-goal first period, including goals by Ryan Poehling and Chris Kreider’s first playoff goal with the Ducks, plus a 25-save performance from Lukas Dostal, established control. ANAHEIM, Calif. — The Ducks advance to the second round and will await the winner of the Utah Mammoth–Vegas Golden Knights series, which Vegas leads 3-2 with Game 6 on Friday. Anaheim converted its power play and scored on the man advantage eight times in 16 opportunities in the opening round, clamped down defensively to limit Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, and received a standout defensive effort from Jackson LaCombe. Coach Joel Quenneville improved to 20-6 in Game 6s and is 7-1 when coaching a close-out Game 6.
