Los Angeles on April 22–23, 2026, officials and sports leaders broke ground on a dedicated cricket venue at the Fairplex Grounds in Pomona ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. International Cricket Council chair Jay Shah and CEO Sanjog Gupta joined Los Angeles Knight Riders and Fairplex representatives to mark the start of construction for the Olympic cricket stadium. The groundbreaking, held this week, follows the LAKR stadium announcement in March and occurs after the International Olympic Committee approved cricket's inclusion for LA28. Organizers said the venue will serve as the Knight Riders' home ground and host Olympic matches, aiming to expand participation, visibility, and legacy initiatives for cricket in the United States by 2028.
