Pittsburgh - Paul Skenes delivered six strong innings allowing one hit and six strikeouts as the Pirates defeated the Washington Nationals 16-5 Monday night at PNC Park, while Brandon Lowe homered and drove in five runs. The game featured a 10-run sixth inning and multiple offensive contributions that produced the lopsided final score.
The victory, which followed Lowe's grand slam the previous day at Wrigley Field, improved team momentum as the Pirates began a four-game series and a seven-game homestand; Skenes left after six innings with the offense providing significant run support.
