AUGUSTA, Ga. — The final round of the 90th Masters arrived Sunday with Rory McIlroy and Cameron Young tied atop the leaderboard and six others within four shots after a dramatic Saturday. Sam Burns stood one shot off the lead, Shane Lowry two back and two-time champion Scottie Scheffler four shots behind. Leaders' tee times were spread from early afternoon into the 2:25 p.m. leaders' start: Ben Griffin and Jake Knapp were scheduled shortly after 1 p.m.; Collin Morikawa and Patrick Reed at 1:30 p.m.; Patrick Cantlay and Russell Henley at 1:41 p.m.; Scheffler and Haotong Li at 1:52 p.m.; Justin Rose and Jason Day at 2:03 p.m.; Burns and Lowry in the penultimate group at 2:14 p.m.; and McIlroy and Young set to begin at 2:25 p.m. on Tea Olive, Augusta National's 445-yard par-4 first hole. Scheffler made up significant ground when his second-round 65 matched co-leader Young for the day's best score and left him at seven under, but he has not previously won at Augusta by coming from behind on a Sunday; his past Masters wins came when he held leads entering the final round. Through three rounds he ranked first from tee-to-green and in ballstriking while ranking near the bottom in putting, a contrast that could determine his Sunday chances. Other storylines included 2017 champion Sergio Garcia breaking the head off his driver after an angry outburst and receiving a code of conduct warning, and the forecast of hot, dry and sunny conditions that give club officials latitude to set up firm, fast greens and difficult pin placements. The Masters gnome also drew attention: a 13 1/2-inch souvenir sold only at Augusta for $59.50, limited to about 1,000 per day and commanding resale prices above $600 amid speculation it may be the final year of production; chairman Fred Ridley has neither confirmed nor denied those rumors.
