Milwaukee — Phil Garner, a former Major League infielder and manager, died on April 11 at age 76, his family said Saturday. Garner managed the Milwaukee Brewers from 1992 to 1999 and later led the Houston Astros to their first World Series appearance in 2005 after taking over as manager in midseason 2004; he also played 16 seasons and was a three-time All-Star.
