AUGUSTA, Ga. — Chris Gotterup, 26, makes his Masters debut this week after winning four PGA Tour events, including the Scottish Open last year and the Sony Open and Phoenix Open earlier this year; he spoke at a Monday press conference saying the occasion, not the course, creates nerves.
The development places Gotterup among 22 first-time Masters participants and marks him as a rare debutant with multiple tour victories; tournament records show no rookie winner since Fuzzy Zoeller in 1979, and organizers, media and rivals will monitor his rounds this week for signs of contention.
