Local stations urge action after DISH drops affiliates

Portland and other U.S. cities. Local television stations reported this week that DISH Network removed their channels nearly two weeks ago, ending carriage of local affiliates and network programming. Broadcasters said DISH declined to reach a retransmission agreement, prompting stations to notify viewers and provide alternative streaming and provider options. Portland viewers were directed to call DISH at 1-877-2-KEEPUSNOW; Memphis, Cincinnati, Hartford, Birmingham, Greenville, and Tallahassee stations posted similar numbers this week. Stations listed missed programming such as NFL games and prime-time shows and urged subscribers to use apps, alternate providers, or contact DISH while negotiations continue.
