LINCOLN, Nebraska — Gov. Jim Pillen announced Wednesday that Nebraska will implement new federal Medicaid work requirements beginning May 1, 2026, affecting about 30,000 expansion enrollees aged 19 to 64 who must complete 80 hours of work or community service monthly or enroll half-time in school to retain coverage. The action follows a federal law signed in July 2025 that requires states to adopt work requirements by 2027 but permits earlier adoption.
