Vikings weigh patience amid McCarthy growing pains | JQJO

In Eagan, Adam Thielen sees a familiar arc for J.J. McCarthy: relentless scrutiny, hard lessons, and the chance to grow. He cited Bryce Young’s 448 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday’s overtime win as evidence patience can pay off. Coach Kevin O’Connell lamented fundamentals and rhythm that hold in practice but fracture in games. Six drops didn’t help, yet McCarthy’s timing and ball placement often made catches tougher, and his turnover-worthy play rate (6.1%) and off-target rate (15.7%) are worst among NFL starters. The Vikings’ charge now is simple: keep repping, stay patient, believe.
