National Guard to Return from Portland Chicago | JQJO

Hundreds of federalized National Guard troops sent from California and Texas to Portland and Chicago amid protests over the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown will return home, a Defense Department official told CBS News. Judges had barred their street deployment, leaving units in limbo, and the administration has appealed a ruling permanently blocking Guard use in Portland to the Supreme Court. Federal control will shrink: Oregon’s contingent drops from 200 to 100, while roughly 300 Illinois Guard remain federalized. U.S. Northern Command said it is rightsizing the Title 10 footprint as demonstrations at ICE sites continue and local leaders object.
