Commanders defensive tackle Daron Payne was suspended one game without pay after he punched Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown during the Commanders’ 44-22 home loss. Ejected in the first half and flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct, he received his first ejection. Payne can appeal and is eligible to return Nov. 17, NFL.com reported. The penalties aided a one-yard two-point try the Lions converted to go up 22-3, and lineman Javon Kinlaw also drew a 15-yarder. If the ban holds, Payne forfeits about $1.15 million. The Commanders fell to 3-7 after playing without injured starting QB Jayden Daniels.
