President Trump issued “full, complete, and unconditional” pardons to 77 allies tied to attempts to overturn the 2020 election, according to a proclamation posted on Justice Department Pardon Attorney Ed Martin’s X account. The list includes Rudy Giuliani, Mark Meadows, and Sidney Powell, one of four recipients who previously pleaded guilty in Georgia. Because none faced federal charges, the move is largely symbolic; presidents cannot pardon state crimes. Signed Friday, the document did not include Trump. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt defended the pardons. In January, Trump also pardoned about 1,500 Jan. 6 rioters, including Enrique Tarrio.
