Colorado’s improved effort wasn’t enough as West Virginia beat the Buffaloes 29-22, handing them a seventh loss and ending hopes of a bowl. The setback, following lopsided defeats to Arizona (52-17) and Utah (53-7), guarantees Deion Sanders’s second losing season in three years at Colorado; the program went 9-4 last year. Sanders signed a five-year, $54 million extension in March, keeping him under contract through 2029. Colorado closes the season against Arizona State and Kansas State.
