Florida’s O’Connell Center erupted as chants of We Want Ollie gave way to history: 7-foot-9 redshirt freshman Olivier Rioux checked in with 2:09 left, becoming the tallest person ever to play college basketball during Florida’s 104-64 win over North Florida. The 19-year-old Canadian, already a Guinness record holder, didn’t touch the ball but soaked in a rousing ovation as teammates celebrated. Coach Todd Golden said the timing was right in a blowout and praised Rioux’s patience and work. Rioux called the support amazing and took the moment in stride.
