On Friday afternoon, the Raiders fired special teams coordinator Tom McMahon, head coach Pete Carroll announced, naming assistant Derius Swinton II as interim. Carroll called it a tough decision, praised McMahon’s work, and said the club will attack the season’s second half with intent and purpose. McMahon joined the Raiders in 2022 under Josh McDaniels and previously coordinated units for the Falcons, Rams, Chiefs, Colts, and Broncos. Swinton, hired in 2023 and retained under Antonio Pierce and Carroll, has worked for the Rams, Chiefs, Broncos, Bears, 49ers, Lions, Cardinals, and Chargers, and now steps up to lead the unit.
