Pitching on three days’ rest, Shohei Ohtani flashed 100.9 mph heat but was chased in the third after a wild pitch, an intentional walk to Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and a hanging slider that Bo Bichette crushed 442 feet for a three-run homer. The Dodgers starter allowed three runs on five hits in 2 1/3 innings, with two walks and three strikeouts, then ceded to Justin Wrobleski. Ohtani drew complaints for lengthy warmup delays yet made history at the plate, collecting two singles and a walk in this winner-take-all Game 7.
