LSU announced Thursday that athletic director Scott Woodward is out, days after the Tigers dismissed football coach Brian Kelly amid a 5-3 season. Executive deputy AD Verge Ausberry will serve as interim while the university plans a Friday morning news conference. Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry had publicly criticized Woodward this week, calling out “bad contracts,” and a source said Woodward is expected to receive more than $6 million owed. Assistant Bob Starkey said women’s coach Kim Mulkey was heartbroken over his departure.
