Daylight saving time ends Sunday, Nov. 2, at 2 a.m., when clocks fall back to 1 a.m., giving most people an extra hour and shifting sunset earlier. Many digital clocks will reset automatically; manual ones need adjusting. Hawaii, Arizona excluding the Navajo Nation, and several U.S. territories don’t observe the change. The practice dates to early 20th century adoption and was standardized by the 1966 Uniform Time Act. A 2022 poll showed broad support for changing the system; a Senate bill to make daylight saving permanent stalled, and Donald Trump has offered conflicting positions on the switch.
