Universal’s Wicked: For Good is tracking to a $115 million-plus debut at the Thanksgiving box office, per NRG, with insiders saying it could approach $120 million. Presales are pacing ahead of the first film as Universal sticks with a $115 million estimate. Opening Nov. 21 in North America and day-and-date worldwide, the second installment reunites Jon M. Chu, producer Marc Platt, and stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande as Elphaba and Glinda. Last year’s Wicked opened to $112.5 million and nearly $750 million worldwide. Erivo, Grande, and the film are expected to be major players in the Oscar race.
