When Saturday arrives, the Grand Egyptian Museum finally opens its doors, unveiling the world’s largest museum devoted to a single civilisation. More than 100,000 artefacts— from Tutankhamun’s tomb treasures to Khufu’s solar boat— await visitors beyond a vast Grand Hall and Staircase. Leaders and dignitaries will attend an inauguration streamed on TikTok, while the public can book from 4 November, with adult foreign tickets at 1,450 Egyptian pounds. The complex offers 22,000 square metres of galleries and 19 conservation labs, and sits near Giza’s pyramids in a triangular, sustainability-minded design by Roisin Heneghan. Tutankhamun Galleries open 1 November 2025.
