Trump seems to acknowledge he can't run for a third term: "It's too bad"

President Trump signaled Wednesday he’s not permitted to seek reelection in 2028, telling reporters aboard Air Force One that the Constitution makes it “pretty clear I’m not allowed to run.” The 22nd Amendment bars election to more than two presidential terms. Trump has alternated between joking and insisting there are “methods” to pursue a third term, as ally Steve Bannon recently claimed there’s a plan. House Speaker Mike Johnson said he sees no path to amending the Constitution. A floated vice-presidential route remains untested; Trump dismissed it as “too cute.”
