Rivals Press Mamdani on Housing Ballot Proposals | JQJO

Leading the New York City mayor's race on an affordability message, Zohran Mamdani is refusing to say whether he supports three housing ballot measures, even with early voting underway. The proposals would speed approvals for affordable projects, curb City Council 'member deference,' and shift more power to the mayor, drawing opposition from Council leaders and unions that back him. Rivals Andrew M. Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa split on the measures and attacked his silence, while allies such as Gov. Kathy Hochul and Comptroller Brad Lander support them amid a fractured progressive response.
