Jeffries Presses Bipartisan Talks as Shutdown Bites | JQJO

On Face the Nation, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries blamed a “Trump, Republican shutdown” now in day 26, urging bipartisan talks while rejecting a GOP funding bill he says would gut health care. He warned premiums could spike without extending Affordable Care Act tax credits, saying Congress could push back open enrollment to help. As 750,000 federal workers go unpaid and services strain, he pressed to reopen government. Jeffries defended his late endorsement of Zohran Mamdani, backed NYPD leadership, called Donald Trump an “existential threat,” and said his “rigged elections” remark refers to Republican gerrymandering.
