Tourist dies after falling from outer wall of Rome’s Pantheon

A 69-year-old Japanese tourist, Morimasa Hibino, died Friday after falling from the perimeter wall of Rome’s Pantheon into a ditch seven meters below street level, police said. A priest spotted him and alerted authorities; officers broke a gate to reach his body. His daughter told local media he may have become dizzy from a sudden illness while sitting on the wall. The Pantheon, a Catholic church, was closed. An investigation is underway, with no foul play suspected. Police note similar incidents at the site; in March, a Spanish tourist died after a fall adjacent to the Spanish Steps.
