A federal judge ordered Greg Bovino, the CBP official leading “Operation Midway Blitz” in Chicago, to appear in person Tuesday for a status hearing in a lawsuit over immigration enforcement tactics. Journalists and demonstrators allege agents violated a temporary restraining order that limits use of non-lethal munitions; they submitted video they say shows Bovino tossing tear gas at protesters in Little Village without justification. DHS counters that agents, after repeated warnings, used riot-control measures as objects were thrown, and says Bovino was hit but not seriously hurt. Judge Sara Ellis also expanded Bovino’s deposition to five hours.
