Honduran man killed on Virginia highway as he tried to escape ICE agents

A 24-year-old Honduran man, Jose Castro-Rivera, died after being struck by a pickup on I-264 in Virginia while fleeing an ICE stop, officials said. Virginia State Police said he exited a vehicle and tried to cross the interstate near the Military Highway interchange; a 2002 Ford hit him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. DHS said ICE began detaining the car's occupants during a targeted, intelligence-based operation; an officer performed CPR before he died. The crash is under investigation. DHS noted recent nationwide operations, including detentions on New York's Canal Street.
