U.S. surveillance drones are now circling above Gaza, part of a push to keep a fragile cease-fire intact, Israeli and American officials said. With Israel’s consent, the aircraft are monitoring ground activity and supporting a new Civil-Military Coordination Center in southern Israel, set up last week by U.S. Central Command. The truce, brokered by U.S., Qatari and Egyptian mediators earlier this month, has been strained by recent violence and disputes over the exchange of deceased Israelis and Palestinians. The flights also give Washington its own view inside the territory.
