Existing-home sales ticked up 1.5% in September from August to a 4.06 million annual pace, the fastest in seven months, though slightly below forecasts, the National Association of Realtors said. Sales rose 4.1% year over year, with monthly gains led by the West and a dip in the Midwest. Lawrence Yun credited easing mortgage rates. Inventory climbed 14% to 1.55 million, or 4.6 months’ supply, still lean, while the median price rose 2.1% to $415,200. High-end deals drove growth: $1 million-plus sales jumped 20%. First-time buyers made up 30% of sales; all-cash deals were 30%. Listings averaged 33 days.
