Samsung’s Galaxy XR, a mixed‑reality headset built with Google and Qualcomm, takes direct aim at Apple’s struggling Vision Pro. Priced at $1,800—about half Apple’s—Galaxy XR runs Google’s new Android XR with Gemini voice controls, supports hand and eye tracking, and leans on an open ecosystem. The 545‑gram visor skips an outward display but adds 4K‑per‑eye micro‑OLEDs up to 90Hz, sharp visuals, spatial audio and iris sign‑in. Battery life is about two hours. To sweeten the deal, Samsung bundles an “Explorer Pack” with yearlong access to Google AI Pro, YouTube Premium, Google Play Pass and NBA League Pass.
