ICJ gives opinion on Israel's obligations to UN agencies in Gaza and West Bank

The International Court of Justice issued a non-binding advisory opinion in The Hague on Israel's legal obligations toward UN agencies and other international organisations in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip. The UN General Assembly sought the opinion last year after Israel's parliament passed laws banning activity by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, Unrwa, on Israeli territory and prohibiting contact with Israeli officials. Israel has accused Unrwa, Gaza's largest humanitarian organisation, of Hamas infiltration, an allegation the agency denies.
