U.S. Vice President JD Vance arrived in Israel to bolster a shaky U.S.-brokered Gaza ceasefire amid fresh bloodshed and fraught negotiations. He will meet Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, hostages' families and recently freed captives, after conferring with envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Israel said Hamas returned the body of Tal Haimi, killed Oct. 7, while exchanges also saw Israel transfer Palestinian remains to Gaza. Despite Hamas' vow to end the war, two Israeli soldiers and 45 Palestinians were reported killed since Sunday. Gaza officials alleged torture of returned bodies; Israeli authorities denied abuse.
