Pardoned Capitol rioter arrested for allegedly threatening to kill Hakeem Jeffries

Christopher Moynihan, 34, a Capitol rioter pardoned by President Donald Trump, was arrested in Clinton, New York, and charged with making a terroristic threat to kill House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries. Court filings say Moynihan planned to target Jeffries at an Economic Club of New York event and sent texts reading, “I cannot allow this terrorist to live.” Jeffries thanked police for stopping “a dangerous individual” and criticized pardons. Moynihan, sentenced in 2023 for breaching the Capitol, has pleaded not guilty and is being held in Poughkeepsie ahead of a Thursday court appearance.
