Internet users worldwide were hit early Monday by a sweeping outage tied to Amazon Web Services, knocking out access to apps including Snapchat, Roblox, Fortnite and Signal. AWS said the disruption, traced to domain name system issues in its US-EAST-1 region, began around 3:11 a.m. Eastern and showed broad recovery by about 6 a.m., with most operations normal by 6:30. Even Amazon’s Ring doorbells, Alexa speakers, its website and Kindle downloads were affected. The company said 64 internal services were impacted. A cybersecurity expert said there’s no sign of a cyberattack and such glitches are typically resolved within hours.
